Marni to launch Spring 2012 collaboration with H&M

H&M will collaborate with Italian label Marni on a new limited-edition spring 2012 collection for men and women.

The Marni collection is the latest designer collaboration for H&M, which has previously collaborated with brands such as Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garçons, Jimmy Choo, Lanvin, and most recently Versace. The popular Swedish high-street retailer offers high-fashion at affordable prices as the range will be created by Marni Founder and Creative Director Conseuelo Castiglioni.

The collection will feature for the women: vivid colours and bold prints, full pleated skirts, dresses, accessories, cropped trousers and jacquard knits in a range of African-inspired silk and cotton fabrics. For the men: the use of print is more subtle, often as a lining or as a contrast detail for shirts, while the silhouette offers a modern take on masculine classics.

“I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favourite pieces in signature fabrics and prints. As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colours, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic adding sporty utilitarian elements” Castiglioni commented about the collection.

The collection will be available from 8 March 2012 in around 260 stores worldwide and online www.hm.com Do you enjoy the designer collaborations with H&M?

GLOSSYBOX November 2011

Yesterday morning I got a lovely early-morning wake-up call to deliver this month's GLOSSYBOX! If you are not aware, Glossybox is a subscription package that sends you a box of 5 luxury beauty samples beautifully wrapped to your door to try out every month for the price of £10 per month + postage & packaging then if you like you are able to buy the full size product discounted. You can read more about Glossybox here.

November's Glossybox is 'The Christmas Gift-Guide' - 5 products to try before you buy (whether for yourself or others). The Glossybox comes well packaged and a lot of thought has been put into the appearance - a pretty outer box then the pink and black Glossybox inside, everything wrapped up and presented beautifully in tissue and ribbon along with a card listing all the contents and discount codes for the full size products. It almost feel's like your opening a Christmas present as you don't know what's going to be inside, this would also make a brilliant gift for a beauty lover and the boxes are very handy for storage.

What's inside this month's box:

Dead Sea Spa Magik Dead Sea Bath Salts (250g - approx value £2) These salts are 100% natural and good for helping dry skin, relieving aching joints and muscles or for detoxing. These salts have come in very handy as I am having treatment from a chiropractor so my whole body is aching and very sore at the moment. I tried these salts out last night after suffering for 3 days with aching joints and muscles. I added 2 handfuls to my bath along with half a cap full of Aromatherapy Associates Relax oil, soaked myself for 20 minutes then wrapped myself in a warm towel for 30 minutes. They recommend you do this 3 times a week, and you can also use the salts as a feet soak. They instantly worked wonders for me - they soothed my aching muscles and I felt more relaxed - I shall definitely be stocking up on more of these. I bought some dead sea salts from eBay last week and comparing the two the Spa Magik are much more refined in texture and more finely milled.

Illamasqua Freak Perfume (1.5ml - approx value £1.18) I know a lot of people are quite annoyed with receiving perfume samples in their beauty boxes as generally you are able to get these for free from a perfume counter. Offering perfume is quite difficult to please everyone as perfume is such a personal choice. I think perhaps Glossybox should maybe offer a deluxe sized perfume sample rather than the small vitals, or perhaps they should throw in a small vital as an added bonus?  However I didn't mind receiving this perfume this month as it's a scent I have been wanting to try since it was launched but I don't have an Illamasqua counter nearby. I am quite fussy when it comes to perfumes but I LOVE this unisex perfume, it's unusual and reminds me of a Jo Malone perfume.

Arbonne Ultra Hydrating Hand Cream (15ml - approx value £2.20) Arbonne is not a brand i'd heard of before, but they are animal friendly, cruelty free and their products do not contain mineral oil and nasty chemicals, it's always good to discover new brands! This hand cream is rich yet lightweight and soaks in nicely leaving a faint fruity scent - the perfect mini size to throw in your handbag.

Monu Revitalising Moisturiser (50ml valued at £16.95) This is another brand that I wasn't aware of but nice to come across. I have only tested this out on my hand but it's a light cream that easily absorbs into skin and is non-greasy however I wasn't overly keen on the scent. Let me know in the comments if you would like me to review this moisturiser (and any of the other products) in more depth.

Nail Rock Nail Wraps (Full Size pack - value £6.65) I LOVE Nail Rock nail wraps so really pleased I received these and always get tons of compliments and questions whenever I wear them - the metallic ones especially looks fab on the toes! They last around 10 days on the fingers (longer on toes) and really easy to apply and take off. I'm quite excited to try these black and white stripey ones - I might wear these to Alan Car Chattyman this week. Inside the pack you get two sets of nail wraps enough to have matching fingers and toes. If anyone would like me to do a step-by-step guide on how to apply them let me know in the comments below.
There has been a lot of debate over Glossybox (and the other beauty boxes) with people being disapointed with what they have received. I think to enjoy Glossybox you need to keep an open mind and be realistic for what you are signing up for and what you are receiving for your money. For a tenner a month, the value of the products are generally worth more than what you have paid - this month's for instance the products are worth nearly £30 - and there is always thought put into the packaging.

There is always a good mix of products and they promise to send you 5 luxury samples per box - some of which are not sample-size but full size! The whole purpose of the box is to introduce you to new products and brands that you weren't aware of before, or maybe not have selected yourself. Some may surprise you, some you may love and some you may hate - but at least you have tried a mini-size than waste money on buying a full-sized product then find you don't like it. Personally I love Glossybox and think it is a brilliant concept and it's great that they have now launched a men's Glossybox and soon to be launching in the USA.
Do you subscribe to Glossybox? What do you think of November’s box?

eBay launches it's first ever UK High Street Store

The popular online bidding site eBay is launching it's first ever UK high street store and predicts the busiest online shopping day in UK history - eBay Christmas Boutique. Love shopping but hate standing in queues and carrying bags?  Love browsing in-store for inspiration, but love the selection and great value deals you get on-line even more?

Combining the best of both worlds, eBay is taking the pain out of Christmas shopping this year with an inaugural Christmas Boutique.  For the first time ever, eBay is opening a Christmas pop-up in London’s West End, but with an online twist. The eBay Christmas boutique will be the UK’s first ever Quick Response (QR) code shopping emporium.  Using mobile technology consumers can browse and shop all in a single inspiring location.

With this innovative shopping experience, Britain’s leading online marketplace is combining must-have Christmas gifts and its great Christmas deals, with the ease and convenience of mobile shopping. The boutique features a huge selection of top gifts from leading brands, each with its own unique QR code and up to 70% off.  Shoppers simply scan the QR code with their Smartphone to make their loved ones’ Christmas wishes come true – no tills, no queues, no bags, no stress. Using your mobile phone, you can literally complete your shopping in a matter of clicks.

The store is open from 1st to 5th December during what is anticipated to be the busiest online shopping weekend this year.  eBay predicts another record breaking ‘Super Sunday’ as over five and a half million (5.8m) shoppers are expected to log on to eBay.co.uk to shop.  That’s half a million more than last year, and equivalent to the entire population of Sheffield.  Sales are forecast to peak at over 30 gifts every second, nearly double the 16 gifts per second bought last year via online and mobile platforms while up to 120 gifts will be bought via a Smartphone every minute.

Whether you own a smart phone or not, customers can come along to try out the QR code experience or browse the Christmas deals  and enter a prize draw to win some fantastic prizes, including top of the range electronics items to the most wanted children’s toys this Christmas.

Thursday 1st to Monday 5th December, 10am – 6pm

BlablaCar

This is not the usual beauty topic – but as it concerns money-saving tips and how to save on travel I thought I would share with any students out there that are interested in hearing about the ‘BlablaCar’ service which revolutionises student car trips with a new  ‘Campus’ site for cheap and fun trips ideal for students and student journeys.

Wanting to visit friends or family and want to save money on the extortionate petrol prices? Annoyed at the ever increasing rip-off train fares? Well BlablaCar can help - they connect drivers with people looking for a ride, designed to specifically help people share car journeys, make new friends and save on travel costs. The idea is simple: drivers ‘rent’ their car seats on trips they are already making, essentially sharing the cost of the petrol and upkeep. For passengers, BlablaCar is by far the cheapest and most social alternative way to travel, and better for the environment. With fewer cars on the road, members have so far saved over 200,000 tons of CO2 since the launch.

Over 100 universities have so far joined the Campus service and each has their own dedicated Campus page, making it easy to find both drivers and passengers heading in the same direction. Nicolas Brusson, co-founder of Blablacar says “Campus is for savvy socials so they can make new friends and save money. Whether it’s a journey home to see family, a weekend visiting friends at other Universities, or a road trip to Cornwall, Blackpool or even Paris, BlablaCar takes the hassle out of students looking for a cheaper ride.”

As part of the Campus launch, BlablahCar is also looking for the University or university town that takes maximising car journeys the most seriously. A prize of £3,000 is up for grabs for the uni club that demonstrates its campus as the most active on BlablahCar. To enter your club, simply email campus@blablacar.com and request a Compeition Pack which provides information on how to win as well as ideas and materials for ways to promote the competition to others. The winning club will be chosen at the end of Jan 2012.

Review: Organic Raw Coconut Oil

I recently blogged about this 100% Organic Raw Coconut Oil from Viridian Nutrition which can be used in cooking and as a beauty treatment for skin or hair. Viridian Organic Raw Coconut Oil is a premium quality product made by hand in the Philippines and is certified organic by the Soil Association. This raw 100% organic virgin coconut oil is from the flesh of the coconut and since the suppliers live in the community where the coconuts grow, they ensure that the best quality coconuts are used in the production of this coconut oil. The oil can be used as a hair and skin treatment or in cooking as it’s a rich organic source of fatty acids supportive nutritionally in the maintenance of healthy skin.

Raw Coconut Oil
Raw Coconut Oil Scooped out of the jar
Balm melting into oil
The oil comes in a heavy glass jar, and in raw form the oil is in a white solid balm texture - reminds me of candle wax. I found it easier to scoop out a small amount of the balm with a spoon (one tablespoon was enough to cover the whole of my hair). As soon as the white balm touches skin it begins to melt into an oil and it smells delicious - like coconut macaroons. I used this as a pre-treatment before washing my hair and applied the oil evenly through my scalp to the ends of my hair, combed through and left on my hair for an hour. I then washed my hair, shampooing twice to make sure all the oil had been removed and conditioned as normal.

Afterwards my hair was shiny and felt super soft and glossy. I don't feel like the oil repaired any damage as good as my current favourite treatment oil Ojon but it did moisturise my hair well. I would recommend using this treatment once a week or as when needed, and with the oil being so versatile you can use it for cooking and moisturising skin, you only need a small amount so is very good value for money.

Viridian Organic Raw Coconut Oil retails at £14 for a 500g tub and is available from all good independent health stores nationwide http://www.viridian-nutrition.com Have you ever used Coconut Oil as a hair treatment?

100% Organic Raw Coconut Oil

I have been following Michelle Heaton’s Health tips on Facebook for a while now and she mentions that she often cooks chicken using Coconut oil rather than olive oil, and I have also heard good things about Coconut water. However I have not been able to find either products in any supermarkets or shops nearby where I live.

I came across the Viridian Nutrition range which contains 100% active ingredients without additives, fillers, artificial flavours, colourings, binders or coatings.

Coconut oil has been shown to help significantly as a skin conditioner, being rich in antioxidants and fatty acids that penetrate into the underlying tissues.  It helps to reduce chronic skin dryness and aids the removal of the outer layer of dead skin cells, making the skin softer and smoother.  The small molecular structure of coconut oil allows for easy absorption through the skin.  Organic coconut oil is wonderful to use as a hair conditioner as it softens the hair and conditions the scalp.  The oil can be used as a pre-wash conditioner that can help combat dandruff.  Coconut oil is famed for its ability to strengthen the structure of damaged, devitalised hair.

Viridian Organic Raw Coconut Oil retails at £14 for a 500g tub and is available from all good independent health stores nationwide http://www.viridian-nutrition.com

Label.m and Giles Deacon Christmas Collaboration

Label.m has been the official backstage hair range used at London Fashion Week for the past 15 seasons, and this festive season sees Label.m joining forces with iconic British designer Giles Deacon for an exclusive collaboration. Inspired by wildlife and nature, Giles has produced a beautiful print, which has been applied to both a sexy clutch bag, as well as a collection of uber stylish gift boxes with a runway-chic twist. Embellished with bold centralized studs that add a distinct edge and toughness to this chic pattern, this stunning accessory will add serious fashion-forward style to any outfit.

I was recently sent the label.m Runway Giftbox (£17.50) to review which contains a luxurious Honey & Oat shampoo and conditioner to prep hair ready for styling. The packaging is lovely with a box featuring the Giles Deacon wild-life inspired print and the products are presented well-wrapped in tissue paper which would make a lovely gift. The products smell absolutely gorgeous - good enough to eat which helped to replenish my dry dehydrated hair and increase strength and lustre. My hair was soft and shiny after using and the nice sweet smell lingered for some time after drying. The Honey & Oat products are perfect partners for Autumn/Winter as they work lightly to repair and hi-drench hair exposed to cold temperature, wind and central heating, and are best used in tandem twice a week to help rebuild damaged hair.

The Limited Edition Label.m and Giles Deacon range is available exclusively at TONI&GUY, essensuals and specially appointed label.m salons worldwide www.labelm.com prices start from £12.

Madonna 'Truth or Dare' Perfume

Madonna has just launched a perfume called 'Truth or Dare' - it's about time right?! The perfume will hit shelves in April 2012 first of all at Macy's in USA, but I am certain it will reach us across the pond eventually. It is described as 'timeless, yet contemporary, simultaneously dark and light' a floral fragrance with woody and vanilla notes.
Madonna says "I have always been obsessed by fragrance and for years wanted to create something personal that was an expression of me but that other people could relate to as well. Something honest, and yet daring, hence the name Truth or Dare".

Max Factor Nailfinity costs £5.99 from Boots and you can check out the full range of shades on the Max Factor website, if you can ever get it to load properly that is!

Sigma F45 Buffer Brush Review

I have heard so many good things about Sigma Beauty from YouTube gurus and other beauty bloggers, that I couldn't wait to try out their products myself. So, I was thrilled when I signed up to be a Sigma Beauty Ambassador that I had the opportunity to receive my own Sigma makeup brush to review.
Sigma Beauty are an American company who produce handmade, high quality makeup and professional makeup brushes which are comparable to expensive MAC brushes, but without the high price tag! Their products are well packaged and a great deal of thought has been put into the presentation, all the brushes arrive in a cute gift bag, with a card and cleaning instructions.
Sigma Packaging
The brush I received to review is the Buffer F45 Kabuki brush made from natural bristles. The brush is super soft and the bristles are densely packed, it’s a great size for travelling or popping in your hand bag to use on the move. It is a versatile brush as it can be used to apply loose or pressed face powders, mineral foundation, or for buffing in blusher or bronzer. I have been using this brush for a few months now, and I haven’t experienced any shedding when cleaning.

I think it is a great quality brush and is priced at $19 (£11) for the full range of Sigma Brushes click hereAre you a fan of Sigma Brushes?
