Boots Botanics Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm Review

 

I have recently discovered a new budget balm that reminds me very much of my favourite Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm but a more affordable version under ten pounds! I enjoy using cleansing balms, especially in the colder months when my skin is feeling parched and tight with the over-use of central heating!

 

The Boots Botanics Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm is an organic deep-cleansing balm that contains a luxurious blend of Shea Butter, Rosehip and Jojoba Oil to leave skin smooth and beautifully clean. The solid Balm can be used morning and evening and comes with a muslin cloth which gently exfoliates and gives skin a deeper clean. The Balm is rich and luxurious to use and does a great job of removing dirt, lifts makeup and impurities. My skin is left clean, smooth and well hydrated thanks to the organic oily balm and the use of the muslin cloth to gently remove any dead skin cells that can leave the complexion dull.

 

A little goes a long way so take a small amount of the balm and warm with your fingertips until it turns into an oil then massage over the face avoiding the eye area (I tend to use Bioderma to remove my eye makeup) and neck using light upward strokes. Soak your muslin cloth in warm water and use as a gentle compress to draw out impurities, then rinse and remove remaining balm in small circular movements. Finish by soaking cloth in cold water and pressing gently over your face to close pores.
 

The Emma Hardie version has a more silky texture and melts into the skin like a dream, whereas the Boots Balm is a little more waxy in comparison but if you are on a budget then Botanics is a definitely winner! I'm impressed that this balm is  97% organic and contains no parabens, lanolin or mineral oil. I found the muslin cloth that came with the balm quite scratchy so I used a softer cloth but overall, this product fabulous value for money!

I am a huge fan of the lip crayons they are so easy and quick to use however it can be tricky to achieve a neat edge if you’re in a rush using the chunkier sticks. 

Let me introduce the new Max Factor Colour Elixir Giant Pen Sticks. I’m not sure why they are named ‘Giant’ as they are much slimmer than other chunky lip crayons on the market, but far easier to line the lips with. I’m really into bright glossy lips at the moment so these are right up my street! The texture of the pens are similar to a  lipstick yet they all have a glossy finish and feel moisturising on the lips - my favourite shade from the selection is ‘Vibrant Pink’ which is perfect for a night out.

Review: This Works Clean Skin 5-in-1 Water

This is the first product I have tried from the 'This Works' range but it is absolutely amazing in fact I would say I like it more than Bioderma! I have been recently testing out a few cleansing waters to try and find a good alternative to my olde faithful Bioderma (which is a pain to get hold of in the UK unless you want to pay ridiculous shipping costs!) you may have seen my Etat Pur review last week? 


Clean Skin 5 in 1 water is a multi-tasking rosewater cleanser that removes makeup, de-congests and brightens the skin. Firstly I just love the packaging - its a sleek white clean looking tall bottle with a pump action top.It does a good job at removing makeup in one swipe, yet it leaves the skin feeling smooth, refreshed and well hydrated. It has a lovely relaxing spa-like scent to it, which if your spending money on 'water' you want to at least feel like you are getting something for your money rather than just unscented water! The water is packed with fruit botanicals that helps shed skin cells and boost elasticity. 


It is formulated with pH balancing rose water, olive and almond oils to cleanse and wild water mint to cool and tone. It does have a slightly oily-er feel to it than other cleansing waters I have tried but it doesn't feel greasy but my skin looks radiant and healthy-looking after use.

The only downside is the side of the bottle if you are travelling and it is a little on the pricey side. I would say if your on a budget then the Etat Pur is great but if you have a bit more money to splash then its worth splurging on 'This Works' as it is definitely the best I have tried so far and on par with Bioderma! It really does Work!

Quirky fashion designer Henry Holland has created House of Holland beauty collection in collaboration with Boots.com. Peptalash: Longer, thicker, fuller lashes in just two weeks?!

From the Creators of Nanoblur and Snoxin comes a new eyelash serum Petalash that promises your lashes will be longer, thicker & fuller in just two weeks! 

There are many eyelash grown serums out there - however these are a temporary solution as they require consistent application and can be quite expensive (£100 a tube!) to keep up. Petalash promises to give long-term results - I like the sound of that! In clinical studies, the lash length was shown to increase by 43% and lash diameter increasing up to 40% - with almost three times the volume! What's more is Petalash also darkens the lash line, which also makes the lashes look fuller. The bottle looks very much like a liquid liner so make sure you don't keep this in your makeup bag!

I have been offered eyelash growth serums in the past but something makes me feel uncomfortable about applying such products around my eye area as I have heard some horror stories! Petalash have kindly sent some of the new serum to trial but I have just come down with a bad cold and my eyes have been so itchy the past couple of days so I'm going to wait until I'm feeling better before I start using it but I shall keep you updated with on how I get on!

The combination refines and polishes to reveal brighter, smoother looking skin. The new body scrub can also be used to prepare skin before applying fake tan and works wonderfully with the original Palmer's Cocoa Butter. The new Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Body Scrub will be available from Boots priced at £4.99 for a 200g tub.
