Golden Globes Hair Trend: Ballerina Bun

Following Sunday’s glamorous Golden Globe Awards, Natalie Portman scooped the Best Actress Award for her lead role in thriller, Black Swan and all things ballet are leading the way in the fashion stakes, follow our four simple steps to A-lister glam to achieve one of the hottest looks for the season, the perfectly prim Ballerina Bun. Whilst we may not have received an invitation to the red carpet, the ceremony has inspired us. To celebrate, Active Beauty is offering up to 60% off RRP on the appropriately named, Goldwell, renowned for their approach to coloured hair.
You shall need:

1) Begin by prepping hair with Redken Styling Volume Touch Control and blow-dry until smooth.
2) Using a brush to ensure all strands are captured, pull hair back into a tight ponytail positioned high on the crown.
3) Twist the hair, firstly whilst it’s in the ponytail to create a smoothed surface and then into a bun, tucking the ends underneath. Secure with Kirby grips which have first been sprayed with L’Oreal Elnett Hairspray for extra hold.
4) Spray Bumble & Bumble BB Big Shine onto palms and smooth through the scrapped back hair. This helps to control how the spray is dispersed. Finally, spritz the bun directly to keep in place.

You could adapt this style and make it your own by creating a messier do. Are you a fan of the sleek Ballerina Bun?

  1. Buns were so popular when I was younger, I might try it myself!

  2. Haha the only time I actually wear a ballet bun is for a dance performance or competition. My face is really round so pulling all my hair back just emphasizes how overtly round it is!
