Current Favourite Nail Products

There are a few brilliant nail products I have been using lately so I thought I would group them together and share with you my Top 5, as some make life a little easier!

Nails Inc Corrector Pen
This pen has a nib soaked with nail polish remover. It is a must-have when applying nail polish as it allows you to quickly clean up mistakes and straighten your polish application around the cuticle area. Nails Inc Corrector Pen costs £11 and comes with extra nibs and is available from Debenhams; Selfridges; and lookfantastic.com.

Revlon Liquid Quick Dry
It's annoying when you have just painted your nails then you go to pick something up and smudge one! Well not anymore - A few drops of this Revlon Liquid Quick Dry over each nail after applying your top coat instantly dries nail polish and protects againsts nicks and smudges! It contains Vitamins C and E to provide antioxidant protection and 'nail friendly' pro-vitamin B5 that helps to provide condition to nails. This is a recent discovery and works amazingly well over any nail polish! Revlon Liquid Quick Dry costs £6.49 and is available from Boots.com.

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream
This is a natural treatment for the nails that intensively nourishes and moisturises nails and cuticles. It's important to moisturise nails and cuticles to keep them in tip top condition and massaging natural oils into cuticles can help nails grow quicker. I have tried many different cuticle creams but this is my favourite and it not only sinks in nicely, is non-greasy and smells incredible like fresh lemons! Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream costs £5.99 and is available from Boots.com, John Lewis and lookfantastic.com.

O.P.I Nail Envy
This Nail treatment does a fabulous job of repairing and strengthening nails, allowing you to grow longer nails in the process. I began using this after my nails becoming weakened after having Gel Nails applied and they quickly repaired my nails back to a strong and healthy condition. I simply applied one coat of this every day for 14 days and I now use this treatment as a base coat under nail polish. O.P.I Nail Envy costs £12 and is available from Debenhams, ASOS and Selfridges.

Tom Pellereau Stylfile 2 - 3 in 1 S File
I was shown this new Stylfile 2 at a special preview over Tea & Cake with Inventor Tom a few months ago but wasn't able to talk about it at the time ;) I reviewed the original Stylfile a few years ago, and this is an improved version features a 3 in 1 system with an added cuticle pusher and orange stick.  The curved file follows the nails natural shape, making it easier to file your nails. One side of the file is abrasive to file your nails and the other surface is smoother to buff over the nails and tips. Tom Pellereau Stylfile 2 - 3 in 1 S File costs £4.49 and is available from Boots.com.

Revlon's New Colorburst Lipstick

Hello Ladies,

This morning I received a parcel that I wasn’t expecting – to my surprise inside was a selection of Revlon’s new ColorBurst Lipsticks. Revlon ColorBurst Lipsticks ‘provides a luxurious, virtually weightless, high-impact color and offers a unique shade range allowing women to make a statement without saying a word’. Revlon uses ‘Elasticolor’ technology to distribute rich colour pigment evenly over the lips and allows the formula to move comfortably with lips – like a Second skin!

Rich, high-impact colour with a Feather light feel, these lipsticks are the ultimate in performance and luxury. ColorBurst is already causing a storm on the catwalks at New Yrk and London fashion week, and Hollywood A-lister Jessica Alba has called Revlon ColorBurst in Plum her ‘new lipstick obsession’ and also wore the shade ‘Blush’ at her Valentine’s Day film premier.

Revlon have also collaborated with Antonio Berardi to design a limited edition and exclusive ColorBurst Tote Bag which is a true collector’s item.

My lips are on the dry side and usually very chapped, I find that most lipsticks look terrible on me, and emphasize the dryness by clinging to the dry areas. These lipsticks are gorgeous and feel conditioning on my lips as the lipsticks contain moisturisers and Sweet Almond Oil. One swipe gave rich colour, which was highly pigmented, weightless and with a glossy finish.

Here are some swatches:

From Left to Right: ‘Plum’; ‘Coral’; ‘True Red’; ‘Blush’; ‘Fuchsia’.

Plum

Coral

Red

Blush

Fuchsia

I can see where Revlon have got their inspiration from high-end brands such as Chanel and Tom Ford. I love the Chanel-like packaging with the quilted effect and also the etching of ‘Revlon’ on the lipstick itself is very much like the Tom Ford lipsticks which retail for £35 each! The Revlon lipsticks retail at £7.99 each so we can now all own a piece of luxury without the expensive price tag.

The Revlon ColorBurst Lipsticks are launched in the UK on 2nd June 2010 and are available in 12 Shades. Will you be purchasing?

Revlon Double Twist Mascara Launch Event

The Friday before I went to New York I was kindly invited to The Revlon Event to launch their new Double Twist mascara held at the Dorchester Hotel in Mayfair. When I arrived at the hotel it was beautifully decorated and felt very Xmasey. I also felt underdressed as everyone was wearing fur, cocktail dresses/suits so I was relieved when our gathering was in the bar which had a more relaxed atmosphere.

I had a lovely afternoon and was nice to meet other bloggers. Alessandra from Revlon talked through the history of Revlon and ideas and concepts behind the new products. Christian Loubotion is a fan of revlon and his famous red soles were inspired by revlon red nailpolish - so im dying to try out Revlon Red as it looks like the perfect red!

We had a specially designed red and black cocktail which was gorgeous, dainty sandwiches, cakes, scones with jam and cream and Champagne. The staff were so kind and boxed up the leftover cakes to take away (although mine didn’t survive the train journey home :()

We were presented with goody bags which included….A case of Dorchester Tea, Revlon Pedicure set (similar to the Ped Egg but pink!); makeup brushes, sweets, nail polishes, lipsticks, eye shadow quad, several tubes of foundation and not forgetting the new Revlon Double Twist Mascara! I was so pleased to recieve a Cherrys in the snow nail polish and matching lipstick as its my favourite revlon shade.
I was given a couple of tubes of darker shade foundations that isn’t suitable for my skin tone so I thought I would do a giveaway to my lovely followers. Also stay tuned for a review of the products once I’ve had chance to properly try them out!

I would like to thank the girls at Revlon for organising such a wonderful afternoon, it was a nice treat and great to feel appreciated.

Revlon - Plum Night & Va Va Violet

These products are from Revlons New Autumn/Winter 2009 collection Plum Trend. This is very different from the makeup i usually wear which is lots of bronzer, neutral colours hot pinks, corals and heavy dark smokey eyes. The lipstick is shade no. 663 - Va Va Violet and it a creme lipstick. Nice packaging and i particularly like that the top of the lid is clear so when you store all your lipsticks you can quickly at a glance pick out your prefered colour. I Really like the texture of this lipstick its really creamy, i think this shade works well with pale skin and dark smokey eyes. I know this colour wouldnt be everyones cup of tea - and it seems a bit on the gothic side. However, i also applied the lipstick yesterday and blotted alot of the colour off with a tissue then applied some pink gloss over the top - it really worked well and left a subtle stain on the lips turning them a dark pink shade which is more wearable for every day.

The nail varnish is 025- Plum Night which is a lovely dark plum shade - This really works well and is a change from my normal dark red or dark brown shade. The colour is very pigmented and easy to apply. I applied 2 coats here.
What do you think? Do you go for Daring dark colours?

Contest Winner Prize

I have had a long day at work today so it was lovely to arrive home to a package from the postman. Inside was the goodies i won in a contest from http://nicolafab.blogspot.com/. It was a complete surprise to win the contest – ive never won anything before! I would just like to thank Nicola. i love all of the products ive won and i would never of thought of buying them for myself so it was a nice gift to receive!

So heres what i got sent:
2 packs of REVLON Runway collection false stick on nails in ‘Sequins’ and ‘Starlet’. Im a fan of stick of nails, i think they are fabulous - these are really pretty nail art designs on them, I can’t wait to try them out :)

The Body Shop Eye Trio in sundown glow- I believe this is from the new collection? I had a play of this trio set and i’m impressed - the eye shadow is highly pigmented and of a high quality. I like the packaging and the colours are gorgeous shades of warm golden dark brown, a copper and light shimmer. It reminds me very much of some of the Mac’s MSF. You could use them separately or mixed together. I think this would look great as a highlight on the cheeks as well as using on the eyes. I used to be a huge fan of the body shop makeup a few years ago when the makeup range was first launched and loved there eye shadows, makeup brushes in particular. I used them religiously but i have to say i haven’t touched them for the past 3 years as i moved on to products such as MAC and NARS.
A quick look on my eyes......
Swatches.....

A litte look at what it looks blended on the skin....

Next is a The Body Shop eye khol in vibrant emerald. I have already got 2 of these body shop liners in black and blue. These eyeliners are nice and creamy and blend in well. I blended a little of this emerald in the bottom lash line when I was playing around with the eye trio shadows.

Swatch.....

Next is the Garnier Caffeine Eye Roll On – treatment for dark circles. Im excited to try this as I have always suffered with dark circles...and I have tired allsorts of products but never found anything that has actually worked! I have seen this garnier product advertised a lot on TV and in magazines but never thought to buy it. I find the only way to deal with dark circles is to try and disguise them as best i can with a good concealer and light reflecting particles makeup. I shall keep you updated on how i get on with this product and whether it makes a real difference as it promises. If it does work i predict its to do with massaging action around the eyes with the metal roller ball.

I am so grateful to receive NAILS INC nail polish in the shade hans road. I have seen this shade online before and been tempted to purchase it – and i always thought it was a bright red from the pictures ive seen. However this colour is more of a pinky red shimmer. The consistency reminds me alot of Nails Inc Brighton. I absolutely adore this colour – it looks fab with my tan (fake of course!). Definitely more of a colour for summer months. This month i have pushed the pinks to the side and I have been loving dark and dirty shades of browns, purples and greys - perfect for this autumn and winter. This polish is a nice addition to my ever growing nail varnish collection :P

Hans Road on the Left (and on the nail), Brighton on the Right....

Thanks again Nicola!
