Eyeko Punk Polish (for neon nails)

I LOVE this polish, so much so, it’s in my top ten nail polishes of all time! As you will know I’m a fan of bright pink nails, especially in the summertime. Punk polish is a bright fluro pink and is super pigmented only one coat is needed! Eyeko polishes apply perfectly and give a smooth finish and are such good quality for the price and the packaging is so cute. This would also be fabulous on the toes as a pedicure colour and would look wicked with a suntan.

What do you think?

Eyeko Polishes are priced at £3.50 and available from http://www.eyeko.com/ - don’t forget to enter my code at the checkout E6670 to receive a free gift with your order :)

Evolve Heavenly Body Polish & Radiance Boost Body Cream

I was sent this lovely travel duo as part of the mypure blogger review panel from the brand Evolve Eco Beauty. Evolve was a brand I wasn’t aware of previously but it their core principals are impressive:
'Evolve Eco beauty is all about fair trade, recycled bottles, low carbon footprints and fabulous skin friendly hair & body care. All the products are made in the UK and are packed full of highly effective superfoods to make a real difference to your skin and hair. The entire range is certified by Eco-Cert the French organic certifying body and also certified cruelty free by BUAV. The range is suitable for vegetarians and vegans who don't mind using beeswax.'

I love the simple purple quirky packaging and these 50ml bottle are a perfect size for travelling (they do also come in a larger 200ml size) and I love how they are made from recycled milk bottles. Having said that it can be at times difficult to get the product out of the bottle as the tear-drop lid is so narrow.

Evolve Radiance Boost Body Cream

‘Evolve Radiance Boost Body Cream will bring dull & tired skin back to life. Formulated with Brazilian acerola fruit which is rich in radiance boosting Vitamin C, it also contains natural fruit acids to help remove dead skin cells leaving the skin smooth & soft. Argan oil has been added which is naturally high in omega 6 essential fatty acids and Vitamin E to help maintain skin elasticity and protect against free radicals.’

The Radiance Boost body cream is gorgeous; it smells delicious and sinks into the skin effortlessly without leaving a sticky, oily residue behind. It leaves my skin feeling super soft and smooth and my skin appears more radiant and glowy after use. The consistency is very rich and creamy and it smells good enough to eat reminds me of almonds and cake mixture.

Evolve Heavenly Body Polish

Evolve Heavenly Body Polish is different to most other body scrubs in that it is massaged into dry skin and then rinsed off with warm water. It is a beautifully creamy body scrub with fine particles of organic coconut shell to remove dead skin cells and smooth the skin. Shea butter has been added to the formulation to keep the skin well moisturised whilst exfoliating away dead skin cells. The scent is coconut and this also smells good enough to eat! This was my favourite product out of the two as it didnt feel stratchy on the skin yet left it brighter and smoother than other scrubs i've tried.

I loved using these products but they are a bit too pricey for me to re-purchase on a regular basis, I would consider buying them for a gift or as a special treat as they did smell amazing and left my skin feeling gorgeous.

The travel-sized 50ml bottles are £3.99 each; Body Scrub is priced at £11.99 for 200ml; Body Cream is priced at £13.99 for 200ml and are available from MyPure

Lady Gaga Wears Raw Meat Dress

Lady Gaga is infamous for her bizarre fashion choices and has caused maximum controversy this week by wearing a dress made from raw meat, including a meat hat, bag and meat shoes to the MTV Video Music Awards.

The dress, was the work of Los Angeles-based Argentinian designer Franc Fernandez, has sparked outrage from animal rights activists who believe this is very much in bad taste. Gaga defended herself by saying she wore the dress to make a protest that women in the music industry are treated like pieces of meat.

Elaborating on her choice of fashion during the DeGeneres interview - which took place after the VMAs - Gaga said the dress had "many interpretations". She said: "As you know I am the most judgement free human being on the earth.

"If we don't stand up for what we believe in and don't stand up for our rights pretty soon we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones." The controversy comes just after Gaga posed on the front cover of Japanese Vogue in a bikini also apparently made from raw meat.

Was Gaga attention seeking again and trying to make headlines with another crazy outfit? Has she pushed it too far this time?

Bourjois Bio Detox Organic Foundation Review

At the Bourjois event I was lucky enough to try a sneak preview of their new natural foundation launching in October. The new Bio Detox Organic foundation has a formula of 98.8% natural ingredients (21% being organically sourced) and has been certified by Ecocert as an organic cosmetic for a flawless finish. The formula enriched with chlorophyll brings oxygen and filters pollution to purify skin with each application. An anti-imperfection effect that evens out the complexion, lets the skin breathe, smoothing blemishes and lightly mattifying skin.

My first thoughts on the foundation when I tried it on my hand was that it seemed drying on the skin, so I would of imagined this would cling to dry patches on the skin and look terrible. However once blended on the face it’s a whole different story, it does not look dry at all, obviously it has a matt finish but it doesn’t look ‘flaky’ nor cling to dry patches. It does dry quickly to a powdery velvet texture and goes to nothing on the skin so you need to blend and buff quickly.

There are 7 shades to choose from, I selected Shade No. 53 ‘Light Beige’ for a medium skin tone. It has a fresh, fruity scent similar to the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation due to the fragrance of melon, apple and sweet jasmine. It brightened and evened out my skin tone without feeling like I was wearing foundation, I felt like my skin could breathe. I think this would be fabulous for oily skins too. It gives a light coverage, but is buildable but the overall look is still natural and fresh.

Next is the accompanying Bio Detox Organic Concealer which owes its concealing and anti-puffiness performance to the dual action of a massaging roll-on ball applicator and a formula containing 98.8% ingredients of a natural origin, including 14.4% Ecocert-certified ingredients from organic farming. It has anti puffiness properties of horse chestnut extract and light-reflecting pigments to hide dark circles and puffiness. The non-greasy texture lets skin breathe and delivers a lightweight, even coverage for an ultra-natural result. The small metal ball of its roll-on applicator gently massages the eye contour. This massaging action coupled with an ‘ice cube’ effect stimulates micro-circulation of the skin. It produces effective and immediate action on dark circles, puffiness and swollen eyelids. This draining action immediately enhances the eyes. It comes in 2 shades, one for light and medium toned skin, and another for tan and dark skin tones.

Swatches on my hand: Top Foundation and below the concealer
(Sorry for the picture - Blogger was playing up!)

Cassie Lomas, Celebrity Makeup Artist says ‘Glide the massaging roll-on applicator around the eyes then gently pat the formula with the fingertips to blend well and release the light-reflecting pigments.”

I found the concealer not heavy enough to cover my dark circles, but was ideal for lightly covering any blemishes or red patches on my face. Due to the roller ball it feels very cooling on the skin and lovely to use around the eye area and the scent is the same as the foundation – fresh and fruity. Like the foundation, it provides a light coverage and blends to almost a powder/velvet finish. Its obviously too early to tell if its made a difference to my dark circles but I will be interested to find out if it does.

Foundation and Concealer blended into the skin

Bio Detox Organic foundation is priced at £11.99 and concealer priced at £7.99 both of which are launching in October and available from Boots. Are you a fan of Bourjois Foundations?

Bourjois Blogger Event

On Saturday I was in London for the Bourjois Bloggers Event held in their HQ and got a sneek peek of their new trend collection for Autumn/Winter 2010. I met some lovely ladies and we were treated to cupcakes, percy pigs and drinks whilst watching a makeup demonstration by celebrity makeup artist Cassie Lomas, who is also spokesperson for Bourjois. Cassie shared some tips on how to achieve that Parisian Baroque look effortlessly using a selection of new Bourjois trend products, and also showcased their new Bio Detox Organic foundation and concealer and their new Volumizer mascara. I shall be blogging in a separate blog post in more detail about my thoughts on these products very soon.

The new Paris Barock Collection is due to launch in October, and it combines elegance with the edginess of a modern day rock chic look.

There is a new Smoky Eyes Trio in ‘Lady Vert-de-Gris’ bringing together three complementary shades: a white gold illuminator with subtle shimmer, a grey-brown and a dark brown shade. The micronized formula provides good coverage and is easy to blend for a strong and sophisticated smoky eye. Cassie talked us through how to create the 80’s style Khaki trend with a grey-green brown smoky eye by taking the mid toned brown colour up to nearly the brow bone. The trio has simple instructions printed on the back on how to create the perfect smoky eye.

The Liner Pinceau or neo-classique in a beautiful burnished gold colour enhances the eyes and has a brightening effect. It is a nice change to the usual black or brown liner and perfect for the up and coming festive season.

Tips from Bourjois Makeup artist Cassie Lomas: “For an intense look, use the light shade of Smoky Eyes Trio along the bottom lash line and in the corner of the eye. Apply the medium shade on the entire eyelid and blend to the outer corner of the eye, towards the eyebrow. Use the darkest shade on the centre lashline and blend towards the outer corner, depending on the shape of your eye.”
Dress your nails with THE most wanted nail colour of this season: the famous "greige" seen on catwalks during Fashion week. 1 Seconde Nail Enamel in ‘Gris Cashmere’ is a beige-grey with a vintage finish. For a more classic look, there is ‘Rouge Profond’ for a striking red.
Tomette d’or Blush redefines and subtly highlights the cheekbones. Its pinky-brown shade enhanced with golden pigments produces a healthy glow. The complexion is natural but radiant.

Left to Right: Rouge Intemporel and Brique Chic

The satin texture of Sweet Kiss Les Rouges lipsticks dresses the lips in elegant and soft shades of rosewood, brick red and garnet red. Thanks to the special formulation it brings a light texture and an intense colour and comes in three sophisticated shades: Brun Sophistiqué, Brique Chic and Rouge Intemporel. I am usually scared of Red Lips but these lipsticks are very easy to wear and feel very moisturising and so light it doesn’t feel as if you are wearing lipstick. I tried out Shade No. 53, Brique Chic which I got a lot of compliments on and tlthough the lipstick lasted really well, I liked the effect when it had worn off it left a lovely stain behind.

Swatches: Top is Brique Chic and Bottom is Rouge Intemporel

Swatch on the lips: Brique Chic

Blusher – £6.99

Smoky Eye Trio - £7.49
Gold Liner - £5.99
Lipsticks - £7.99
Nail Polish - £5.49

My must-haves from this collection would be the smoky eye trio, the nail polishes and the lipsticks. What are you looking forward to the most from this collection?

Rose Exclusit Lipgloss by Bourjois

This tailor-made lip gloss goes on clear and within a few seconds turns your own personal shade of pink!Enriched with 'intelligent' pigments that react with the PH balance of your skin it gives a unique colour for each person. It suits the wearer because the pH of each woman is unique, varying from a pale to bold hot pink.
This is a similar concept to the Dior Lip Glow, which i find over-priced at £20.50 and quite drying on the lips. The Bourjois version is rose scented, non-sticky adds shine also feels very moisturising on the lips as it contains vitamin E + A, anti-oxidents and promises to hydrate for up to 8 hours.

Eyeko Chi Chi Polish (for girly nails)

For all those girly girls who love pink and all things glitter this is the polish for you! Pink glitters suspended in baby pink polish make for the ultimate girlie nail shade. For instant embellishment layer up Eyeko Chi Chi Polish for intense glitter coverage.

You definitely need a base coat under this polish if you’re wearing on its own, but I personally think it looks the best over the top of a light pink polish or if your more daring, a brighter pink. The only downside is it’s difficult to remove containing the glitter.

Are you a fan of glittery nails?

Eyeko Polishes are priced at £3.50 and available from http://www.eyeko.com/ - don’t forget to enter my code at the checkout E6670 to receive a free gift with your order :)

V Festival Backstage Makeup Trends: Alexandra Burke

Alexandra Burke went for a dramatic, edgy look to match her hooded purple dress at V Festival. The M.A.C Artist used Chromagraphic lip pencil to outline the edges and then filled the lips in with Cheryl Cole's favourite: Show Orchid lipstick applied with a brush on top. The emphasis was on Alexandra's pop of bright lip colour, while cheeks and eyes have been kept neutral. She finished the edgy look off with WAH-inspired Leopard print nail art.

NOTD - Revlon Emerald City Matt Suede

Today's Nail of the Day is Revlon Emerald City from their new Matt Suede Collection. It is a deep Racing 'Mini Cooper' Green shade with lots of shimmer. I love Revlon Nail Polishes, they are great quality and easy to apply, the matt formulation result in a smooth application but because of the added shimmer the nails colour doesnt appear too flat. In the photograph below the nails appear shiny but its the reflexion of the shimmer, I can assure you the nails have a matt appearance!

Liz Earle New Hair Care Range Review

Skincare guru Liz Earle has just unveiled the brand new exciting hair care range line launched this Autumn. The range contains one shampoo for all hair types and three conditioners: one for oily hair, another for normal locks and one dry/damaged hair. She has brought her skincare approach to the hair care line, so there is just one shampoo to suit all hair types, just like her famous award-winning ‘Cleanse & Polish’ cleanser which is ideal for every skin type.

Liz and her business partner, Kim Buckland, have been working on this hair care range for six years and after testing over 100 different formulas they have finally reached their perfect formula. It has taken this length of time to develop a product containing natural ingredients that performs in the way customers expect a hair care range to from the scent down to the foaming action. I am a big fan of natural products myself, but I have yet to find a good natural shampoo that works well, I usually find they leave my hair dull and lack.

The products do not contain nasty chemicals such as SLS (foaming agent) which Liz explained can be an irritant and can also fade coloured hair. Instead they contain a breakthrough agent, SLMI, which unlike its similar sounding predecessor is derived from coconuts, kind to skin and lathers up well - which is unusual for a natural ingredient. The products are full of bontanicals to add shine, nourish the hair and protect from colour fading. Shea butter is also a key ingredient, responsible for giving hair its natural shine, as well as apple and citrus extracts to perfume the products.

The Botanical Shine Shampoo contains naturally active ingredients such as ‘West African Shea Butter, naturally sourced Vitamin E, naturally derived cleansers to gently clean without stripping to leave hair soft, shiny and smooth.’ Apple and orange extracts restore natural shine, whilst eight essential oils leave hair smelling clean and fresh. Before applying the shampoo to your hair its best to take a small amount of the shampoo with a little water and rub between your palms to activate the foaming agents before applying to the scalp. The scent of the shampoo is fresh and ‘zesty’ with a strong citrus fragrance that lingers nicely on the hair awards and it left my hair feeling squeaky clean.

The Botanical Shine Conditioner for dry damaged hair contains a mix of West African Shea Butter, Blue Seakale, Kenyan Yangu Oil, Apple and Orange extracts. This conditioner shares the same zesty fresh scent as the shampoo and due to the very rich thick creamy consistency it feels very luxurious to apply. My hair instantly felt tangle-free and silky smooth.

Afterwards my hair felt soft and smooth, with healthy looking shine (Do I sound a bit Cheryl Cole there!?). This simple and fuss-free hair range definitely gets a Thumb Up from me, it is reasonably priced, good quality natural products that give great results.

The range is available now at http://www.lizearle.com/ and it has proved to be extremely popular as before the launch date of 2nd September 2010 over 20,000 had already made their reservations! The Shampoo and Conditioner are both priced at £7.50 for 200ml.

REVLON Suede Rhapsody A/W 2010 Collection

Revlon’s new Suede Rhapsody Collection, created by Gucci Westman for Autumn/Winter 2010 launches this month. Gucci’s inspiration came from 'women in fashion in the 1920's Art Deco period and fashion illustrations with visions of the women in Henri Bresson Lartigue’s iconic photographs – images that were effortless and chic’.

‘Wrap yourself in glamour this season, indulge and experiment with modern textures, luxurious deep tones, muted pastels and vibrant bursts of colour for a look that is ultra-feminine, refined and chic, a winter wardrobe of modern, gorgeous shades.’

The collection introduces two of their new Super Lustrous Matt lipsticks in ‘Smoked Peach’ and ‘Stormy Pink’ along with a crème finish in ‘Mink’.

From Left to Right: Smoked Peach; Stormy Pink, Mink

Smoked Peach is a gorgeous coral peach with subtle shimmer which I would describe as a frost finish rather than matt. Due to the matt finish, I found this lipstick a little drying on the lips so make sure your lips are well conditioned before you apply and you can always wear a lip gloss over the top if you prefer a glossy finish. Smoked Peach reminds me of a slightly darker, matt version of Limited Edition M.A.C Jazzed from the In the Groove Collection. Stormy Pink is a blue toned hot pink with no shimmer which is a true matt but less drying on the lips than Smoked Peach. Mink is a brown toned neutral dark nude which is extremely creamy glossy finish.

The Colorstay Eyeshadow Quad in ‘Silver Fox’ promises to stay freshly applied for up to 12 hours in Soft grey, vibrant aqua green, shimmery white (perfect highlight colour) and a deep purple.

Last of all in the collection are the Matt Suede effect Nail polishes in shades Ruby Ribbon and Emerald City, which are simply gorgeous! Emerald City is a flat matt dark racing green shade with a little shimmer, and Ruby Ribbon is a deep shimmery blood red. My pictures are taken with my iphone 4 so sorry for the crappy quality.

Revlon Lipsticks: £7.29
Colorstay Eyeshadow Quad: £7.99
Nail Enamels: £6.29
