Review: Veet Spawax Stripless Wax Warming Kit

Veet has recently launched Veet Spawax Stripless Wax Warming Kit– a professional quality wax warming system that melts wax and maintains it at the perfect temperature, giving you salon-perfect results at home.

The wax can easily be removed in one go, removing hairs as short as 2mm and smooth results can last for up to 28 days. Formulated for smooth application, simply apply the wax using the spatula provided and allow it to become dry to the touch - no strips are required. The kit is compact, unlike other bulky waxing kits I have used, there is no mess, it is really quick and simple to use.

The Veet Spawax Kit includes purple lily & sugar fig fragranced wax discs which help to create a pampering spa experience. The wax is suitable for the legs, underarms and bikini line but not suitable to use on the face. The Veet Spawax device does not require internal cleaning as any remaining wax can be reheated during the next waxing session. With regular use, your hairs will grow back fewer, finer and softer.

How to Use - 5 easy steps to salon-perfect smoothness:
1. Place the appropriate number of wax discs for the body area you wish to depilate (see side of carton) into the pot.
2. Plug in the pot - the warmer will begin to melt the discs. The wax is ready to use when it achieves a smooth consistency - in approximately 30 minutes (for 4 discs).
3. Scoop wax onto the spatula and apply a layer of wax to the thickness of an orange peel in the direction of hair re-growth. Try to make the end of the strip slightly thicker so that you can grip.
4. Wait for 30 to 60 seconds until the wax becomes dry to the touch. Hold your skin taut. Grasp the thicker end of the wax, and pull the strip back as quickly as you can, against the direction of hair growth.
5. After waxing, clean away any wax residue using some used wax or baby oil or Veet Perfect Finish™ Wipes.
Veet Spawax costs £39.99 and is available exclusively at Boots.com

ARK Derriere Facial

I recently visited ARK Skincare's flagship salon in Putney to try out their new 'Derriere Facial'. Yes, thats a facial for your bottom - which has become the latest beauty craze in the US! ARK Skincare is renowned for its signature 'Cleavage Facial' and due to client demand for a treatment to clarify and firm the bottom have introduced a 'Derriere Facial' to get your bum ready for the beach.

I was given paper knickers to wear and I felt totally comfortable as I was wrapped up in towels and blankets during the treatment. The therapist only works on one area at a time rather than leaving you fully exposed. The treatment beds are super comfortable complete with an arm rest.

The ARK Derriere Facial began with a foot cleanse and then body brushing over my legs, thighs and bottom to boost circulation and help diminish the look of cellulite.

A treatment cleanser is then worked into the skin to purify and restore skin’s optimal moisture balance. The skin is smoothed and clarified with the ARK Invigorating Body Scrub, which contains natural loofah, fruit acids and invigorating menthol to lift away dead skin cells and unblock pores.

After steaming the skin, the bottom and legs are expertly massaged with a blend of SkinResponse Serums to lift, firm and purify the skin. The bottom is then treated to a skin clearing or firming masque, while the feet are pampered with a heavenly aromatherapy massage.

The treatment was finished with application of a skin smoothing Nourishing Body Lotion to leave skin plump, soft and radiant. This innovative treatment can be tailored to target specific skin concerns such as spots, uneven skin tone, cellulite and loss of elasticity. Afterwards, I was not rushed and was told to take my time to relax and drink peppermint tea.

I found the treatment to be so relaxing I almost fell asleep and my skin has never felt so soft - often we neglect the bottom and thigh area! For total beach body confidence, the ARK Derriere Facial is the perfect pre-holiday pamper treat to give you the courage to wear that Brazilian thong bikini this Summer. I just need to book a holiday now!

The ARK Derriere Facial costs £49 for a 45 minute treatment and is available at the ARK Flagship Salon in Putney.

Starbucks Cookies & Cream Frappuccino

Last week I went along to the gorgeous Nailberry Salon in Fulham to celebrate the launch of Starbucks bottled Cookies & Cream Frappuccino. I enjoyed a Cookies and Cream themed luxury facial and manicure from KatyandTaty team at their exclusive pop-up "frapp-spa".

The facial used Lavera products and included a fresh face mask made from pure coca, oatmeal, almond oil and fresh sour cream. The chocolate mask was specially created for the event and when applied to my face it smelt so delicious that I did try a little (it was edible) and it tasted as nice as it smelt! The luxury facial left my skin feeling plumped up, glowy and super soft afterwards.

After my facial I was treated to a vanilla inspired manicure that featured a specially made sugar and vanilla hand scrub made with almond oil and vitamin E and that also smelt so good I had a taste of that too! I went for Nailberry's own brand Iced Mocha nail polish to go with the cookies and cream theme.

The new Starbucks Frappuccino Cookies and Cream is a delicious blend of Starbucks Fairtrade coffee and fresh milk with the taste of cookies and cream that you can enjoy on the go or at home. Starbucks Bottled Cookies & Cream Frappuccino is available now priced at £1.79.

Have you tried a bottled Starbucks Frappuccino? What are your favourite flavours?

Review: Murad Pomegranate Exfoliating Mask

It's been a while since I posted any product reviews - I promise that my blogging mojo will be returning back to normal in the New Year! I have tried a few Murad products over the past year or so, some I have liked, others that I haven't so much, I'm pleased to say these Pomegranate Exfoliating Masks I liked!

Pomegranate Exfoliating Mask have been 'formulated to provide an instant, intensive smoothing and hydrating benefit with each single-dose treatment dissolving dull and dry skin creating a complexion that is fresh, clear, smooth, and bright.' I like that these masks are formulated without parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, Synthetic Dyes which gets the thumbs up from me as I like to steer clear of cheap and nasty ingredients. My skin has been looking a little dull recently with the change of season and these antioxidant-rich, weekly treatments promise to restore, revitalize, and balance combination skin. The pomegranate and Ginkgo Biloba extracts fight free radicals and inflammation and the natural fruit enzymes and AHAs dissolve tired cells and free skin's surface of trapped impurities.

The box comes with 6 individual sachets in for 6 treatment masks which is handy for travelling. My only gripe is there is way too much product in one sachet, enough for 2 treatments so if you don't want to waste money you can scope out the remaining mask into a plastic container to use for the next time! I used this mask last night after cleansing and massaged half the packet into my face and left on for 20 minutes. The mask was very cooling and did sting a little but wasn't at all painful. After rinsing my skin was soft, brighter and the dry patches on my cheeks and forehead had disappeared - I shall definitely be keeping this treatment up once a week.

Murad Pomegranate Exfoliating Mask costs £25 for 6 treatments and is available from Marks and Spencer and lookfantastic.comHave you tried this mask? Are you a Murad fan?

Review: REN Body Contouring Anti-Cellulite Gel

I have recently been trying the new REN Body Contouring Anti‐Cellulite Gel formulated to visibly reduce the appearance of cellulite and orange peel skin.

Deep penetrating liposomes deliver actives that target the causes of cellulite by increasing microcirculation and drainage, stimulating elastin production and encouraging lipolysis which helps reduce the formation of fat lobules below the skin. The leg contour appears smoother, firmer; swelling is reduced and discomfort is cooled and soothed. The gel contains natural bio extracts of pink pepper seed, caffeine, red microlage and horse chestnut.

The gel is very cooling and smoothing and I have been applying this morning and evening to my legs, lower body and any areas prone to cellulite, however it has a pretty strong herbal scent. I found it has reduced the appearance of cellulite and has toned up the tops of my legs and it is lovely to use in the summer months as it is so refreshing. I have been using this gel as well as body brushing to get my circulation going - which I think both work well together in combating the dreaded cellulite.

REN Body Contouring Anti‐Cellulite Gel is priced at £32 for 150ml available from Liberty, Selfridges, John Lewis & Look Fantastic. Have you tried any cellulite treatments that have been effective?

Salon Review: Vita Liberata Spray Tan at Leticia Haute Coiffure

Firstly apologies for the lack of posts this week - I have got a new job starting in London so have been house hunting and away this week. Whilst I was in London I had time to visit Leticia Haute Coiffure Salon to try the highly rated Vita Liberata Spray Tan - and with the typical 'British Summer' rain we have been having recently I was in need of a (fake) tan! Vita Liberata has actually been around for years but it's only recently I have heard people raving about it and hearing it has a celebrity following such as Sienna Miller, Kelly Brook, cast of Made in Chelsea and they are the official tanners of The X Factor!

Vita Liberata Tan is thought as a self tan that is as close to a natural tan as you can get - free from nasty chemicals, parabens, alcohol and perfume. It is packed with botantical extracts that make it kind and nourishing to the skin, 80% organic, not tested on animals and best of all... odourless! There's nothing worse than applying your tan at night then wake up the next day smelling of biscuits! And....I haven't finished yet but apparently the colour can last up to 3 weeks and has a natural fade so you don't go patchy. Sounds too good to be true right?

The spray tans come in 3 different shades: Hawaii (light), Ecuador (medium) and Brazil (dark). I would have gone for medium normally but the lady suggested I have two coats of Hawaii (light) to make it look more natural. When I arrived at the salon I was greeted by the salon owner and his very friendly salon dog and offered coffee with chocolates and biscuits. I was taken down stairs to the tanning room and asked to remove all my jewelry and clothes and pop on a pair of paper knickers. A barrier cream was applied to my hands, elbows and knees to ensure there was no build-up of tan in obvious places, but I did somehow end up with obvious tanned palms?!

Two coats of the light tan was applied to my full body and face which took less than 10 minutes, then I waited another 10 minutes for the tan to dry before I got dressed. I must admit that prior to tanning I didn't do my usual routine of scrubbing and moisturising beforehand and also I didn't wear baggy clothing afterwards - but this didn't make the tan streak at all. I left the tan on overnight to develop and woke up the next day to a natural, non- orange, even looking tan - apart from my wrists! I did notice this tan still had a slight 'biscuit' fake tan smell, not as strong as others but I found it took a while to clean off in the shower.

Nearly a week later the tan is still looking natural and no patches - I have been scrubbing my hands like mad to get rid of the obvious line around my wrists but apart from that I am happy with the results! I have the Vita Liberata products to use at home so I shall definitely post before and after pics of me using the home system soon. Have you ever tried Vita Liberata tan? What did you think?

Review: Montagne Jeunesse Dead Sea Mud Spa Fabric Mask

I'm giving you a peek of the new first-of-it's-kind Montagne Jeunesse Clay Spa's Masks which are a nice at home spa treat for those on a budget! I was sent the Glacial Clay Spa and the Dead Sea Mud Spa masks which both come soaked in mud infused fabric bamboo sheet mask. They promise an extraordinary deep cleansing experience and like all their products they are vegetarian-approved, environmentally friendly, made from natural ingredients and paraben-free.

The fabric masks come in a little sachet that you tear across the top and pull out the fabric mask then carefully unwrap and stretch it over your face and smooth into place. This step can be very messy as the fabric is saturated in real mud, dead sea and sea kelp so you might want to do this over your sink to avoid getting the clay everywhere! I found the mask difficult to place over my face properly as it's too large but I covered my neck with the overlapping fabric.

I left the mask on for 10 minutes and I must point out the scent is quite overpowering and it made my eyes sting a little. The fabric stays wet and it felt cooling on the skin, after removing the fabric you will need to clean the remaining clay from your skin with a face cloth. I noticed immediately my skin looked refreshed, cleaner and brighter and super soft to touch.

Clay Spa's by Montagne Jeunesse costs £1.49 and is available from Boots or Montagne Jeunesse from Mid August. Are you a Montagne Jeunesse fan?

Review: Peony Anti Aging Skincare Products

This morning bright and early I received a packaging with a couple of new skincare products from Peony Rejuvenates Skincare - a skincare brand I was unaware of until the lovely Jules contacted me and introduced me to the range. I received the Anti Aging Foaming Facial Cleanser and the Anti Aging Gold Juniper Exfoliating Crystals. My first thoughts about hearing the word 'Peony' would be that it would smell flowery and old-lady ish but I'm pleasantly surprised - it's a fresh, gorgeous 'spa like' scent!

For hundreds of years, White Peony has been celebrated as a flower of healing and beauty by people in it's native Taiwan, Okinawa (Japan) and Hawaii and is the secret to their youthful, smooth complexions. Dianna Cohen was inspired to create a range that uses the powerful white peony for it's strong anti-aging properties, and healing effects on wounds, scars and skin conditions. Her skincare range is 100% natural, uses organically and sustainable wild white peony and gentle enough to use on sensitive skin.

Foaming Facial Cleanser
This gentle cleanser removes impurities and make-up without stripping the skin's natural oils and maintaining the skin's natural pH balance. It smells gorgeous and has that nice fresh and relaxing 'spa-like' scent. The cleanser comes in a hygienic pump action bottle, and one or two pumps is more than enough to clean your whole face. I applied a pump of the cleanser in my hand mixed with warm to create a foam and massaged onto my face and neck for 2-3 minutes before rinsing with cool water.

The cleanser contains Peony extract, Horse Chestnut, Jojoba Oil, Green Tea and Hyaluronic Acid. It left my skin feeling soft, clean and refreshed without feeling tight like some foaming cleansers can leave your skin. The foaming facial cleanser has been formulated to work with the Gold Juniper Exfoliating Crystals to visibly reduce pore size, eliminate dead skin cells, stimulate the skin's cell renewal cycle and leave skin feeling beautifully soft and silky. I love this cleanser after using it morning and night, adore the scent and the bottle is a good size for travelling.

Gold Juniper Exfoliating Crystals
First of all the packaging looks very expensive looking and the crystals (look more like grains/seeds) in it's clear heavy plastic jar. They remind me a little of The Body Shop Japanese Exfoliating Grains from 10 years+ ago that I used to use (not sure if they still sell those?). The crystals are a gentle dissolving exfoliator and detoxifier, to eliminate dead skin cells, unblock pores and help stimulate the skin's cell renewal cycle. With regular use, the crystals help to visibly reduce pore size, and minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The crystals smell of lavender, are very relaxing to use - I personally would save this step for an evening and use twice a week for a treatment and the crystals are very finely milled and gentle to use on the skin. The idea is you mix a small amount of the crystals with the foaming facial wash and gently massage in for 2-3 minutes then rinse like normal. I enjoyed mixing these products together as saves so much time. The crystals contain peony extract, juniper powder, lavender essential oil, juniper berry essential oil and purified water. My skin felt super soft and smooth after use and even the dehydrated rough patches on the tops of my cheeks were gone!

Foaming Facial Cleanser is priced at £20 for 150ml and Gold Juniper Exfoliating Crystals cost £25 (30mg) / £19 (15mg) and Peony Skincare is available exclusively at Fenwicks Brent Cross or Tunbridge Wells and online at www.peonyskincare.co.uk Have you ever tried any Peony products? What were your thoughts?

DIY Facial at Home

Not everyone can afford to splash out on the luxury of a salon facial, but that doesn’t mean you can’t receive the same benefits! It is really simple to do yourself at home and you don’t have to spend a lot of money on expensive products.
It is really important to take care of your skin and find a skincare regime that works for your skin type. I use a whole range of different brands and I am always discovering new ones. Also, I tend to switch masks and mositurisers depending on the weather or what my skin needs! To top it off, I tend to give myself a facial once or twice a week. It is nice to take 30 minutes out to relax and pamper yourself.
You can do these steps whilst watching TV, or – better still – whilst you are relaxing in the bath as your pores will open with the heat. To create that Spa at home feel you could light some candles, put some relazing music on and spritz some aromatherapy spray in the air, or put a couple of drops of essential oils on your hot cloth.
To begin, I like to remove my eye makeup with Bioderma H2O micellar water and some cotton pads, I will then apply a cleansing oil or luxurious balm and massage that into my dry skin in circular motions. I will then add a few drops of water to turn the oil into rich milk, massage in, then remove with a hot muslin cloth. It is nice to place the cloth over your face for a few seconds to open the pores and get a deeper clean.
After rinsing, I take a cream or foaming cleanser and massage in to ensure my skin is thoroughly clean, and I will remove the cleanser using a hot facial cloth. I will then sweep my skin with toner – sprayed onto cotton pads – to add hydration, nourishment, and remove any traces of cleanser to freshen up my skin. Oily skin types should go for toners that balance facial oil content, such as lemon, tea tree and peppermint. For dry, sensitive skins, go for rose, tangerine and elderflower to soothe and calm.
To really decongest your pores and brighten up your skin, steam cleanse your face once a week. This is good for almost all skin types, though sensitive skins and those of high colour may wish to skip this step. You don’t even need to buy a facial steamer! Simply pour boiling water into a bowl and add essential oils (lavender, rose, geranium and eucalyptus) to clear your lungs and calm nerves. Inhale steam deeply several times, and then place an ice cold compress on your face to tone up your skin and close the pores.
Following this, I will use a facial scrub or fruit enzyme mask to exfoliate dead skin cells which leaves my skin super smooth and soft. Next, I will apply a hydrating face mask all over my face and neck avoiding the eye area and leave on for 15-20 minutes. If I am in the bath, I will also use an eye mask or soak some cotton pads in brightening eye lotion – you could even opt for refreshing cucumber slices which is a great help to puffy eyes!
I then warm a few drops of facial oil (rose oil is good for anti-aging) in the palm of my hands, and massage them into my face and neck in deep circular movements to lift the face. In efforts to improve micro-circulation of the skin, I stimulate pressure points around my eyes and brows, and gently pinch the skin around my eyes. To do the same, simply work in an upward direction to lift your muscles, and massage outwards towards the lymph nodes on the neck to encourage the toxins and excess fluid out of your system. To finish, I apply a rich eye cream treatment around my eyes, and apply a goodhydrating night cream all over my face and neck.
I hope you get into a facial regime that works for you! Have you tried a DIY facial at home?

Review: Decleor Exclusive Signature Treatment – Paradise Escape

Last week I visited the lovely Macdonald Spa Hotel in Manchester to try their new exclusive signature treatment – Paradise Escape.  Paradise Escape is two hours of pure indulgence with a relaxing face and body treatment that transports you to paradise – just what I needed! I arrived a little early for my treatment, so had time to change into my fluffy robe and slippers and was shown around the spa. I spent an hour relaxing in the spa and using the various facilities and then sat on a cosy bed in the relaxation room snuggled in blankets drinking green tea and reading magazines before I was collected by my therapist Gina and shown to my treatment room.

First of all I was given some paper knickers to change into and had to remove my robe and bikini ready for the treatment and was given time to get myself comfy on the bed in between warmed towels (the therapist leaves the room to give you privacy to do this step). The spa journey begins with the therapist ensuring you are relaxed by pressing on pressure points on the back, shoulders and feet and making sure you’re comfortable. She then applies a Madagascan ‘Boabab’ fruit seed full body exfoliation which is a powerful fruit that has six times more vitamin C than one orange! Its intense properties smooth and rejuvenate tired skin yet it is extremely gentle on the skin. I was then left to rinse off the scrub and oils in the shower cubicle located in the corner of the treatment room. I couldn't help but notice how soft my skin was after the scrub. I was left a towel to dry myself off with then I had to remove the paper knickers and lie back on the bed underneath new towels and blankets completely naked! I’m totally fine about being naked whilst having a massage as I find it more relaxing and felt completely comfortable, but for those of you that are a little prudish, you don’t have to worry as the therapist always has towels cleverly draped over you to protect your modesty.

The treatment continues with a expert massage using warmed body balm drizzled over the legs and back and with the aid of Decleor’s unique natural massage tool – The Acacia Massager. Gina focused on the tension in my back and neck and with the help of the massage tool it effectively relieved all my muscular aches and knots. I felt a little chilly at this point with just coming out of the shower, so she turned on the heated bed and I floated off and along with the heat – the music, comforting atmosphere and fruity scents I felt like I was lying on a beach and could have easily drifted off to sleep!

Gina then checked my skin and asked what my skin concerns were and tailored my facial to suit my skin type and I was then given a full facial treatment with a cleanse, tone, scrub and a gentle facial massage follows using an exceptional elixir of Orange Blossom, the national flower of the sunshine state Florida. With numerous benefits, the Orange Blossom helps to restore the skins youthful glow by aiding skin cell regeneration, works to normalise enlarged pores and is an effective sebum balancing remedy for dry and oily skin conditions. A moisturising face mask and eye mask was applied to my face, with a thin layer of gauze placed over the top, then the warming ‘Aromaplastie’ face mask was applied – which is like no-other! It’s a thick ‘weetabix’ consistency containing a blend of wheat germ, linseed, herbs & plant extracts that is so pure apparently you can eat it! The unique mask moisturises and decongests the skin whilst stimulating and enhancing the action of the products applied underneath. The mask completely covers the face, eyes and lips and another thin layer of gauze is place on top so you feel like you are cocooned and this makes you feel relaxed and sleepy. The mask was left on for around 20 minutes and during this time Gina continued massaging my arms, hands, feet, chest whilst the mask worked its magic – bliss!

Once the mask was removed, my skin was reawakened with Decleor moisturiser and I was left to get dressed in my own time and drink a glass of water – no need to rush. Gina kindly offered me some skincare advice and gave me a goody bag with a couple of products that she mentioned that would be great for my skin concerns both to be used for a night time treat: Decleor Hydra Floral Eye & Lip Moisturising Mask and Decleor Aroma Night Balm. I have been using both products ever since and they have become a staple and favourite in my night time skincare ritual. Gina also suggested to drink plenty of water for the rest of the day and to avoid any alcohol (I drank 2.5 litres of water but did have one glass of red seeing as it was Friday!) I certainly slept well that night after my little trip to paradise! I would highly recommend this signature treatment if you are looking for a pampering treat of pure relaxation and some time out - you really feel as if you have taken a trip to an exotic beach!
The Paradise Escape signature treatment is available at the hotel group’s 24 Spa Harmony & Serenity locations and costs £110 from Monday to Thursday and £115 from Friday to Sunday. To view the spa treatments on offer and check out the hotels you can visit Macdonald hotels.

Babor Anti-Stress Set

When I went to Life House Spa recently we were kindly given a Babor travel set to review. The set comes presented with all the travel-sized products in a compact zipped bag and is suitable for sensitive / stressed skin in need of protection. The bag contains Hy-Ol Cleanser, Phtyoactive Sensitive Cleanser, Anti-stress jetlag cream and Scentao Relaxing Shower Milk. This is a great set to try before buying more expensive full size products are the samples are very generous in size.

There are two cleansers in the set: the Hy Ol  and Phytoactive which at first glance I was unsure why there were two cleansers in the set. The cleansers work together in a bi-phase deep action cleanse that combines both natural oils and water  to gently remove impurities without leaving the skin feeling tight. The Phytoactive contains herbal essences of lime blossom, hops and balm mint to calm and relax the skin. First apply the Hy Ol (4 pumps) to dry skin, then smooth over 2 pumps of Phytoactive and massage into the skin with slightly damp fingertips until a milky emulsion is formed. Rinse with cool water. I really like this two-step cleansing routine, although I must admit it would be easier if the products were mixed together?

Anti-stress jet lag cream protects the skin for 24 hours against nervous stress and signs of fatigue - this would be great to use on a long-haul flight. The cream is very rich and you only need to use a small amount, it sinks in skin nicely and smells like coconut sun-cream! This is perfect for me as I tend to travel on long journeys frequently which can be tiring and stressful. The cream promises to re-balance, calm and restore the skin.
The Scentao Relaxing Shower Milk was my favourite product of the set - it smells amazing! It's a creamy foaming shower milk and has a citrus scent - a nice comforting thai 'spa like' scent which is relaxing yet refreshing. My skin felt super soft afterwards without applying moisturiser.

This kit was £30 but is now half price £15 here -which is great value! Have you tried any Babor products?

Sanctuary Spa Beauty Box Haul

Today i picked up the Deluxe Beauty Box from Sanctuary Spa. This was on offer, reduced to half price - £35 to £17.50. It was also on the 3 for 2 offer, so i ended up getting 3 - for xmas presents! It contains everything a girl needs to pamper in style and is really good value as the tub of body butter retails at £10 alone. All the products came in a really nice set of drawers which will be really handy - im thinking i might re-cover this and store some of my jewerly inside. I absolutely love pampering myself and im a fan of sanctuary spa products! It came with the following: body lotion, mande lular body souffle, luxury bath float, salt scrub, body wash, body scrub, classic perfume EDT, luxury shower cap, body butter and a smooth skin wash mitt. Absolutely fab!
I also got given a £5 voucher when i bought this to spend on Ruby and Millie or Boots No. 7 makeup - so i had a quick look and noticed this Boots No. 7 'eyeshadow blend and contour' brush that looked very good quality and very similar to the MAC No 217 brush. It was £6, so only cost me £1 after using the voucher - such a bargain! I tried it earlier and its extremly soft and blends really well - really good dupe for MAC No. 217!! I havent used any boots No. 7 brushes before but im extremlely impressed with this find.

Hope this is useful, feel free to write any comments below :)
